The next meeting is January 25 at 7:30 pm.
Welcome to 2010! It's the start of a new decade, and a new guild year. I hope you're ready, because we axe really going to start
the new year off with a lot of activities! We have a fun meeting planned for this month (the ever-popular QuiltO!) and we have
a lot of activities coming up.
First things first: we still need some volunteers for Guild positions.
We need someone to take over the Ways & Means/Emporium [Not the quilt show). Do you like to shop? This is the job for
you! Find things that you think other people would buy, and sell them! Some of the things we have sold in the past include
t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, coffee mugs, thread, and pins, but I'm sure you'll think of more stuff we "need'"
Do you like to take pictures? We need a Historian. I'd like to see some of the fun activities we do posted on our website in
addition to the photo albums our Historians have created for us over the years. lf you like to take pictures and/or make
scrapbooks, this is the job for you! It would be a firn job for a couple people to share.
We need a new Bee Keeper. This person keeps track of the different bees in the guild and publishes the information in the
newsletter. We would like this person to also help with the Chinn bees.
We need someone (or a group) to design and coordinate the making of the 2011 Raffle Quilt.
The Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival is in February (Feb 25-28) and our annual show with the Stone House Quilters is
March 20 & 21. We need lots of volunteers for both events.
I know, I know, we are always asking for help for some activity or another, but everything we do is to promote
the art of quilting, and our guild. And it's fun! We're all busy, but none of the guild positions we need to fill take
more than a few hours a month, and most of the volunteer activities are one-time opporhtnities. If you feel like
you haven't made any friends, or you're in a rut with your quilting, signing up for a position or getting involved
in the guild's activities will help. Doing something new, and working with other people enriches your life. I think
it's helped my quilting as well.
